Welcome to Opera Magnifico

Opera Magnifico welcomes you to apply for an audition for our 2025-2027 season! Opera Magnifico provides paid opportunities to emerging operatic artists (of all ages) and is based in North/Central New Jersey. We present Mozart through Verismo era operas and are proponents of the bel canto technique of singing. 

 

Auditions will be held May 9th, 16th and 17th in Gladstone NJ. Our season includes two mainstage productions as well as additional concert opportunities. Our first mainstage production is expeted to be mid-January with rehearsal process beginning January 2, 2026 and our second will be in April-May 2026.

Titles under consideration include Don Pasquale, I Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana. Productions will be performed with an orchestral chamber ensemble. All roles are available to perform or cover and payment is provided. While the exact stipend amount is not available at this time, it will be similar to what we have paid previously ($300-800) for a two-three week process. Artists local to the tri-state area are favored, though host housing is available for select artists. Prescreening is required and auditions will be granted on a rolling basis. Application Deadline: April 23rd 2025. There will be an accompanist fee due on the day of your audition.

 

Prescreening Requirement:

1 video, preferably in Italian

 

Audition Repertoire Requirements:

4+ arias or art songs, 1 selection must be in Italian. It is preferable to have at least 2 Italian selections and at least one Verismo, Puccini or Verdi aria, though not required.
